Below are the general steps for installing an electric/solar water heater:

  1. Choosing the Right Location

    • Location: A spot near the plumbing connections, either on the side or on the roof, is selected, ensuring easy access for future maintenance.
    • Support: The plumber installs roof bases to ensure that oikisko's roof in that location is strong enough to support the weight of the water heater when full.
    • Otherwise, a suitable surface around oikisko's is chosen.
  2. Preparing the Water Heater

    • Components: It is checked that all components, such as safety valves and connection pipes, are included and in good condition.
    • Disconnecting Power: Before starting any work, the power supply is disconnected.
  3. Plumbing Connection

    • Water Supply Connection: The cold water inlet and hot water outlet are connected to the water heater using appropriate pipes and insulating tape to prevent leaks.
    • Safety Valve: The safety valve is installed on the hot water outlet to prevent excessive pressure.
  4. Electrical Connection

    • Wiring: The wires are connected to the water heater according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The grounding suitability is checked.
    • Safety: In the case of replacing an old water heater, it is checked that the circuit has a cross-section of 3x4.0 mm and is protected by a 20 A safety switch to prevent the risk of electric shock. For a new installation, the circuit is created from scratch.
  5. Testing and Operation

    • Filling with Water: The technician will open the valve, allowing water to fill the water heater. Power is only activated when it is full.
    • Leak Check: It is checked that there are no leaks in the connections.
    • Power Supply: The power supply is activated, and the operation of the water heater is checked.
  6. Thermostat Adjustment

    • Finally, the thermostat is set to the desired temperature (usually around 60°C) to ensure efficient operation and reduce the risk of bacterial growth.
